Jamie Lester

Partner

Jamie joined RIAA Barker Gillette (UK) LLP in April 2026 as a Partner in our Dispute Resolution Department. He is an experienced commercial litigator with more than two decades of practice advising clients on complex, high-value disputes in the UK and internationally.

Jamie acts for a wide range of clients, including high net worth individuals, family offices, businesses, professional partnerships and insolvency practitioners. His work often involves complex commercial and corporate disputes, frequently with cross-border elements, where a careful strategic approach and clear commercial judgement are essential.

Known for his pragmatic and proactive approach, Jamie works closely with clients to understand the commercial context of each matter and to identify the most effective route to resolution. He has extensive experience in negotiation, mediation and High Court litigation, with a strong track record of resolving disputes efficiently while protecting his clients’ wider commercial interests.

Commercial and Corporate Disputes

Jamie advises businesses and individuals on a wide range of commercial and corporate disputes, including contractual disagreements, shareholder and partnership disputes, and issues arising from complex business relationships. His approach focuses on protecting clients’ commercial objectives while resolving disputes in a practical and proportionate way.

Insolvency and Restructuring Disputes

Jamie regularly acts for insolvency practitioners, creditors, individuals and businesses in relation to contentious insolvency and restructuring matters. His work includes disputes arising during administration and liquidation, claims involving directors’ duties and misfeasance, and litigation connected with distressed businesses.

Professional Negligence and Risk Management

Jamie has extensive experience advising on professional negligence claims and broader risk management issues. He supports clients in assessing potential liabilities, managing disputes at an early stage and pursuing or defending claims where professional standards or contractual obligations are in question.

Complex and Multi-Jurisdictional Disputes

Many of Jamie’s matters involve significant value and cross-border elements. He has experience coordinating disputes across multiple jurisdictions and working with international advisers to develop strategies that align with clients’ legal and commercial objectives.
