{"id":7419,"date":"2020-04-30T08:00:17","date_gmt":"2020-04-30T08:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.riaabarkergillette.com\/uk\/?p=7419"},"modified":"2024-11-19T18:24:03","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T18:24:03","slug":"financial-support-measures-for-businesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.riaabarkergillette.com\/uk\/financial-support-measures-for-businesses\/","title":{"rendered":"Financial support measures for businesses"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In these unprecedented times, the Government has adopted a full range of financial support measures to support businesses facing short-term trading and cash flow issues due to the pandemic and to provide job security to thousands of employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/apply-for-the-coronavirus-business-interruption-loan-scheme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CBILS<\/a>&nbsp;is designed to provide small and medium-sized businesses that are losing revenue and experiencing disruptions to their cash flow with financial support of up to \u00a35m for up to six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under CBILS, the government provides lenders with a guarantee of 80% on each loan (subject to a pre-lender cap on claims). It makes a \u201cBusiness Interruption Payment\u201d to cover the first 12 months of interest payments and any lender-levied fees. The borrower remains fully liable to repay the outstanding facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility criteria<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your business may be eligible if it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>is based in the UK;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>has an annual turnover of up to \u00a345m;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>has a borrowing proposal that the lender would consider viable, if not for the Coronavirus pandemic;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>operates in an eligible sector, i.e. excluding credit institutions, insurers, reinsurers, building societies, state-funded primary and secondary schools, grant-funded education establishments and public sector bodies; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>has been adversely impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic (which shall be self-certified).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme offers access to a range of business finance products, including term loans, overdrafts, invoice finance and asset finance, which are delivered through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.british-business-bank.co.uk\/\">British Business Bank\u2019s<\/a>&nbsp;list of over 40 accredited lenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loans Scheme<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/apply-for-the-coronavirus-large-business-interruption-loan-scheme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLBILS<\/a>&nbsp;is designed to offer larger businesses access to finance of up to \u00a350m at commercial interest rates. Under CLBILS, businesses with a turnover of more than \u00a345m may apply for up to \u00a325m of finance and businesses with a turnover of more than \u00a3250m for up to \u00a350m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility criteria<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The eligibility criteria for CLBILS are the same as for CBILS except that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>your business must have an annual turnover of over \u00a345m;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your business must not have received a facility under the Bank of England\u2019s CCFF (for more information, see below); and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the scheme must realistically enable the business to trade out of any short-term to medium-term difficulty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As with CBILS, the facilities under CLBILS are made available through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.british-business-bank.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">British Business Bank\u2019s<\/a>&nbsp;list of accredited lenders for periods of between three months and three years and are backed by a government partial guarantee of 80%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coronavirus Bounce Back Loan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/apply-for-a-coronavirus-bounce-back-loan?utm_content=buffer20008&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_campaign=buffer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CBBL<\/a>&nbsp;will launch on 4 May 2020 and is designed to help small and medium-sized businesses to apply for loans of between \u00a32,000 to \u00a350,000 for up to six years. Under CBBL, the government will guarantee 100% of the loan, and no repayments will be due during the first 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility criteria<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The eligibility criteria for CBBL is the same as for CBILS except that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>your business must not have been an \u2018undertaking in difficulty\u2019 on 31 December 2019; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your business does not need to have a borrowing proposal or satisfy the turnover threshold.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The full rules of the scheme and guidance on how to apply are available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.british-business-bank.co.uk\/finance-options\/legacy-programmes\/bounce-back-loan-scheme-bbls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">British Business Bank\u00a0website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">COVID Corporate Financing Facility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/apply-for-the-covid-19-corporate-financing-facility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CCFF<\/a>&nbsp;is designed to assist larger businesses that are fundamentally strong but experiencing severe disruptions to their cash flows with the raising of working capital and financing their short-term liabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under CCFF, the Bank of England will purchase short-term corporate debt (known as commercial paper) from larger companies to ease the credit supply to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme is delivered through commercial lenders for at least 12 months and is backed by the Bank of England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility Criteria<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your business may be eligible if it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>makes a material contribution to the UK economy, i.e. companies incorporated in the UK and companies with their headquarters or with significant employment in the UK;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>can demonstrate it was in sound financial health prior to the pandemic; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>operates in an eligible sector, i.e. excluding credit institutions, insurers, reinsurers, building societies, other financial sector entities regulated by the Bank of England or the Financial Conduct Authority, leveraged investment vehicles and public sector bodies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The full rules of the scheme and guidance on how to apply are available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bankofengland.co.uk\/news\/2020\/may\/update-to-the-covid-corporate-financing-facility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bank of England\u00a0website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Future Fund<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/future-fund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Future Fund<\/a>&nbsp;provides convertible loans from \u00a3125,000 to \u00a35 million, subject to at least equal match funding from private investors. The Future Fund is designed to assist businesses that rely on equity investment and cannot access other business financial support programmes because they are either pre-revenue or pre-profit.
