Knowing you\u2019ve chosen what you want to happen can also help ease distress for loved ones left behind and minimise potential disputes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If you die without a will, any assets that belonged to you must be distributed according to the strict <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riaabarkergillette.com\/uk\/the-intestacy-rules\/\">rules of intestacy<\/a> \u2013 which may not be how you expect or would want your estate to be shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s never too early to make your will, as long as you\u2019re over the age of 18 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-often-should-i-update-my-will\">How often should I update my will?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">We recommend that you review and update your will every five years or when a major change occurs that impacts you or your loved ones.
