Vandana Chitroda, who graduated in law from the University of Central England in 2001 joins RIAA Barker Gillette from Royds Withy King in the City of London, where she was previously a partner in their family team.
Vandana has acted for a broad range of clients; including business owners, City workers and working and stay at home men and women in connection with all aspects of family law; including:
- divorce, civil partnership and cohabitation disputes;
- mid to high net worth financial settlements;
- child arrangements;
- cohabitation and pre-nuptial agreements; and
- other non-contentious documents such as consent orders.
Vandana has a particular specialism in cryptocurrency assets on divorce and has been quoted extensively on this subject by the BBC, Bloomberg and The Times. Vandana is described by the Legal 500 as a “reassuring and supportive figure to her clients”.
Vandana’s recruitment to RIAA Barker Gillette comes at a significant time for family law with the government’s plans, announced earlier this year, to overhaul the divorce system in England & Wales and to introduce no-fault divorce.
James McMullan, partner and head of private client at RIAA Barker Gillette said: “Vandana is a highly regarded family lawyer whose breadth of specialist knowledge, including of cryptocurrency assets on divorce, will be invaluable to our expanding client base of business owners and high net worth individuals.”
“We welcome Vandana to our growing family team where we are confident she will quickly make a positive contribution to our clients and as one of our specialist family lawyers.”
Vandana is the second individual to be recruited or promoted to partner at RIAA Barker Gillette (UK) since April 2019, and will be working closely with family partner, Stuart Jacobs and family solicitor, William Roberts-Phelps.
